Optia®
Dry absorptive media and activated carbon products
BioAir’s Optia® range of dry adsorptive media and activated carbon products are suitable for treatment of a wide range of air pollutants from municipal and industrial airstreams. Optia is often used in our EcoCarb® air treatment systems but can also be supplied loose for installation in existing dry media (carbon) vessels.
Although dry media are often lumped together and referred to as “activated carbon”, the reality is that not all dry media are the same. Due to differences in material properties, such as pore sizes, particle size and shape, raw material composition, and possible chemical impregnation, different Optia media are used to treat different and/or specific air pollutants. Each Optia media has different levels of effectiveness and total adsorption capacity for a specific pollutant. For example, BioAir’s Optia Plus P media effectively removes hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, but it is less effective at removing VOCs, whereas Optia 8D media is very effective at removing reduced organic sulfur compounds.
Although there are many different carbon media types available in the market, you may find yourself left alone to decide which carbon media is best suited for your application. This is where BioAir brings added value: not only do we provide superior Optia dry media, but we also provide consultation to help select the most suitable media that meets the specific treatment requirements for your application.
To select the most suitable Optia media for a particular application, it is essential that the air or gas steam characteristics are known. However, this information is not always available, in which case BioAir will help by doing on-site air sampling and testing through its BioAir Complete® services to help determine the types and concentrations of the pollutants in the airstream. Once this information is known, BioAir’s scientists will select the most suitable Optia media that meets the specifics of your application, whether it is for a new EcoCarb air treatment system or to replace media in your existing carbon reactor.
Please contact us to discuss your carbon (adsorptive) media needs. Our scientists would gladly support you with your application!
